Jason and Scott's Wild Moving Adventure

Well, on June 25th, the family helped load a Budget Truck and Scott and Jason set off for Denver.

Everything was going great until about a mile outside of Rock Springs, Wyoming. There the truck broke down and the wait began. Six hours later, near midnight, the tow truck had still not come and we were told to walk to the nearest exit and take a taxi to a hotel. A sheriff picked us up, confiscated our moving knives, put Jason in the confinement cell and took us to a restaurant where we took a taxi to the hotel. Then, we realized our luggage was still in the sheriff's truck! It made for a good laugh and eventually we got it back

The next morning, Jason took a little airplane to Denver to meet contractors at the house. He took care of plumbing, painting, and air conditioning issues while Scott waited for the furniture to be switched into another truck and then drove on to Denver. He got there near midnight. It had only taken two moving trucks, a police truck, two taxi's, an airplane, and a ride from our realtor to get us there! The day had also tied the record for the hottest day ever in Denver - 105 degrees - and we were both glad that air conditioning was going to be installed the next day.

The next morning, work continued on the house. Central Air was installed, the swamp cooler was ripped out, 7 major plumbing issues were fixed (including a waterfall through the shower wall and into the garage), and we began painting. The best moment included 2 men, a 5 gallon bucket of paint and a quad-fold 16' ladder on one small little scooter!

Over the next few days we became well acquainted with the employees at ACE Hardware and lived off of Subways while working from about 7:00 in the morning till 2:00 at night.

Spencer, Debbie and Michelle joined us Saturday night to help unpack and Monday the 5 of us drove back to Salt Lake City. In all, in one week we had taken two days to get to Denver, put 22 gallons of paint on every wall of the house, fixed all the plumbing and a/c issues, and unpacked and assembled most of the house. I don't know if I have ever been so tired, but I am really glad we accomplished as much as we did. I am so thankful for all the help I received - especially from my dad. I really enjoyed spending the time with him and reliving past memories of working on a house with him. He celebrated his 50th Birthday during our trip and I am amazed at his goodness and willingness to help.
